Ben Brooker

Managing Director, Arboricultural Consultant & Trainer

Ben began his arboricultural career in 2000 at Merrist Wood College in Surrey. Since then, he has gained extensive hands-on, managerial, and advisory experience in the industry – from working as a lead climber and crew leader to taking on roles as an estimator, contract manager, consultant, and trainer. His career has taken him across the UK and internationally, including time working in Australia, New Zealand, and Canada.

In 2013, Ben returned to the Isle of Man and founded Manx Roots. Originally established as a tree surgery business, the company has since grown to include arboricultural consultancy and professional training services. Its development reflects Ben’s long-standing commitment to quality, safety, and sustainable tree management.

Ben has continued academic study throughout his career and now holds the Level 6 Diploma in Arboriculture – a leading qualification for consultants and tree managers. He is also a registered Lantra instructor, delivering accredited training in arboricultural machinery, as well as tree inspection and surveying. Alongside his work with clients, Ben contributes to the industry through his role as an assessor and coursework marker for Tree Life AC.

More recently, Ben has taken a keen interest in nature conservation and re-wilding. In 2021 Manx Roots acquired a 25 acre site in West Baldwin called Renscault Brooghs which has become a non-profit rewilding and conservation project for the company. This project is only just beginning, but guarantees a lifetime of learning for Ben and anyone who wishes to be involved.

What We Stand For

Not generic values — these are the principles that guide every decision we make.

Safety Without Compromise

Every recommendation prioritises safety. We never cut corners, and we expect the same from everyone we work with.

Trees Deserve Expertise

Trees are complex living organisms. They deserve the same quality of professional advice as any other valuable asset.

Conservation by Action

Renscault Brooghs is not branding — it is a personal commitment to restoring native habitats on the Isle of Man.

Island Stewardship

The Isle of Man is our home. Every tree we advise on contributes to the island’s landscape legacy.

Environmental Commitment

We use electric and battery-powered equipment where practical, offset our vehicle emissions, source local materials, and manage Renscault Brooghs as our tangible contribution to the Isle of Man's ecological recovery.
